Shower steamers are basically mini bath bombs that you use in your shower. These help you get the aromatherapy benefits without the time needed to soak in a bath with a bath bomb. They have tons of benefits, including aromatherapy, and headache, migraine and stress relief. But first, what are they?
How are our steamers made?
It only takes a small list of ingredients to make these soothing steamers:
- Sodium Bicarbonate
- Citric Acid
- Corn Starch
- Witch Hazel
- Blend of Essential Oils (1 oz each)
Each ingredient plays an important role in the benefits the steamer gives. Something like citric acid can sound like it’s harmful to you, but it’s used to allow make the steamer fizz and release things like essential oils into the air. Witch hazel acts as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, so it helps with redness and irritation.
What is Sodium Bicarbonate?
We already know you’re wondering “What even is sodium bicarbonate??” Sodium bicarbonate is a fancy, scientific term for a substance you know as baking soda! Though its used in baking and cooking, it is super beneficial as an antacid (helps with things like heartburn). Including smaller amounts of sodium bicarbonate in our shower steamers gives you an additional benefit of helping things like indigestion and sunburn, and can also naturally freshen the air.
How do you use them?
Shower steamers are used in the shower (shocking, right?). You add a couple to the floor of your shower, making sure they’re partially in the water stream, and you’re good to go! They’re actually much easier to use than you would think, but there’s a few things to keep in mind:
- Avoid putting your steamers directly in the water stream to elongate their life
- Only use one or two at a time: the aromatics can be pretty strong if you use too many at once
- You can add a few drops of your own essential oil blends to the steamer for additional aromatherapy benefits
What are the benefits of our steamers?
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is a natural way, using things like plant extracts and holistic oils, to enhance health and well-being. A big part of why our steamers are great for aromatherapy is the essential oil blends we use in them. Another reason is how those oils and ingredients are released: via steam. This method gets you all the benefits in a moist atmosphere where you’re breathing it in as well as receiving it through your skin’s pores.
Lavender and eucalyptus essential oils
Essential oils are oils that are extracted from plants. Theres a plethora of studies done on the effects of essential oils and how they help. Essential oils like lavender are used for calming and stress relief. Properties of eucalyptus essential oil include fighting inflammation and specifically has respiratory benefits when inhaling it. Including these oils in a steamer form make it so you get all the best benefits of these plant extracts
Safe to use
Our shower steamers have very few ingredients and none of them are chemically harmful. They are even safe to use for kids. Also, because they’re generally safe (apart from specific allergies), they work perfectly as gifts!
Longer lasting
Shower steamers lifespan depends on how much direct water it is receiving. Putting it in the direct stream of water will cause it to dissolve and fizz out quicker. Keeping it further from the water stream will allow it to fizz out more slowly. This makes shower steamers more versatile than bath bombs, where you don’t have the option of making it last longer.
